Lillian Ayot

Lillian Ayot

Lillian is connected to The Needy Support, a community partner who works with the must vulnerable members of their community and helps them to overcome pretty large obstacles. The community group is based outside of Kampala, Uganda and are part of a community that has carried a high burden of poverty and HIV/AIDS.

Lillian’s story is a familiar one. She was married and has daughters. She and her husband rented rooms and had a garden plot but when he passed away she was left widowed and with dwindling income. Her family was evicted. Lilian connected with The Needy Support Centre and life changed again.

With access again to land she was able to grow more maize, beans and sweet potatoes to meet her families needs, but also to sell in the markets. CAP/AIDS sponsored her daughters to finish school and Lillian herself became a community health worker and now talks and trains people in her community around HIV/AIDS prevention and living positively.
